How to Make Your Vape Coils Last Twice as Long
Nothing ruins a good vaping session faster than a burnt taste. Vape coils are consumable items, but with proper care, you can significantly extend their lifespan. Follow these simple steps to save money and keep your flavor fresh.
1. Always Prime Your Coils
Never vape immediately after putting in a fresh coil. Pour a few drops of e-liquid directly onto the exposed cotton inside the coil before installing it. Once the tank is filled, let it sit for 5–10 minutes to saturate completely.
2. Avoid “Chain Vaping”
Taking multiple puffs in rapid succession doesn’t give the cotton enough time to soak up more e-liquid. This leads to “dry hits” which instantly burn the cotton. Wait 15–20 seconds between puffs.
3. Stick to the Recommended Wattage
Every manufactured coil has a recommended wattage range printed on the side (e.g., 20W–30W). Vaping above the maximum limit will overheat the wire and burn the wick almost instantly.
4. Watch Out for Sweet E-Liquids
E-liquids packed with sweet flavorings and sweeteners are notorious “coil gunkers.” The sugars caramelize on the heated coil, leaving a dark residue that destroys the flavor profile within days.
5. Don’t Run Your Tank Empty
Always keep your e-liquid level above the exposed cotton holes on the coil. If the juice level drops too low, the coil will draw air instead of liquid, resulting in an immediate burn.
